Children’s Village inaugurated by Prime Minister of Cambodia and President of SOS Children's Villages
His Excellency Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Kingdom of Cambodia and Dr. Dereje Wordofa, President of SOS Children’s Villages International inaugurated the newly constructed Children’s Village at Prey Veng Cambodia. The inauguration by the high level dignitaries made it a truly historical moment.
For every child and young person that succeeds, the country takes a step forward
Dr. Dereje Wordofa, addressed the dignitaries present at the ceremony. Besides the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the deputy Prime- Minister, Minister of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation, Michael Poeltl, COO, SOS Children's Villages International, Hon'ble Nim Thoth Board Chair of SOS Children’s Villages Cambodia, Sokunthea Sambath, ND, SOS Children's Villages Cambodia, other ministers, provincial governors and representatives of development partners were present. In his speech, Dr. Dereje Wordofa highlighted the close cooperation between the Kingdom of Cambodia and SOS Children’s Villages International for over two decades.
“20 years onwards, hundreds of children and young people under our care have grown up within families with whom they have established strong bonds; and are now living independent lives, raising families of their own. The impact is not only seen in numbers but in the successful transitioning of the children in our care to flourishing adults, confidently living their lives, contributing to their great nation. For every child and young person that succeeds, the country takes a step forward and with it, the whole world benefits,” said Dr. Dereje Wordofa.
